Working with Frames - 11/25/2007 21:02:42
Hi Guys, I worked with frames about two years ago. I am now trying to build a few pages using frames but I can't remember how to do it. I looked at the ones I built sometime ago. I noticed the file names say page 1, frame 1, page 2, frame 2 etc. I set up the frame and placed the content on it. Do I save it as frame 1 or page 1. I save the file twice, page 1 and frame 1. However, when I build page 2 and saved it, it over writes the first page. What am I doing wrong. Thanks for the help. Anthony

what you're doing wrong is using frames in the first place :)

FrontPage will help you create a standard 3-section frames site with nested information hierarchy. General hyperlinks on the left or Sidebar (typically buttons) bring up new content in the Body section - the Header (usually with logo/company information) remains constant. In FrontPage >>New Page >>More Page Templates >> Frames Pages. While framed sites are "old technology" they can be rendered visually effective and, contrary to prevailling opinion, they can be made search engine friendly.

hard to bookmark and a pain to print and - difficult to work with by those who usually don't appreciate all the drawbacks of frames.

I know frames are difficult to work with but they are ideal for what I am doing. It is for this reason I need to figure out whay the problem. If you know anyone who can do this I am willing to pay. I c an just send the files so that the person can look at the codes and might be able to sort it out.

I worked many years with a very large website using 'frames'. In my case I replaced all my framed pages with 'include' pages. If you haven't checked out 'include' pages, you might want to investigate them and see if they can be helpful for you.
