Nick -> Lost Ability To Print... (12/1/2007 11:49:24)

I have no idea what I've done, but am now unable to print from either of our two wireless connected computers. I have two computers, laptop and another desktop connected to desktop computer with printer via wireless router. Have been able to print with either computer for well over a year now, but all of a sudden I am unable to even find the printer when going through Control panel, add printer, browse for printer.

The only thing I have done in this year was to try three different security firms internet security products.

Any ideas? Have disconnected my WPA2 security to no avail too. :(

Stumped in AZ

I'd start by directly connecting the printer to one of the machines and make sure it's working properly.

I'm assuming you've already tried the obvious of shutting down all the machines, switching everything off then bringing everything back up again in the right order.

Jaybee, thanks I did try your suggestion to connect printer locally to the laptop. It did not work until I reloaded the driver. However, when I went back and tried to find it after reconnecting printer to desktop laptop still doesn't see it.

You think I should try to reinstall printer on desktop? If not, the only thing I can think to try is to disable all security, WPA2, and internet security and try without either... Really grasping at straws now...

Yep, me thinks this might be what has happened... ugh [:'(]

Thanks,

I have found the problem after disabling all security (WPA2 and I.S.) and of course (grrr) it lies within my internet securities firewall. I have to actually disable firewall to print from wireless computer.

I am using Trend Micro Internet Security 2008 and so far I am unable to configure firewall to let me print without disabling all together.

Going to have to write Trend Micro a support ticket to find out what I am doing wrong.

Alright, after spending some quality time with Trend Micro, I uninstalled and reinstalled their Firewall and made a change to it and walaaa, it works...

I would have asked the guy why they don't have this fix on the website so one doesn't have to go through chat support to get it, but during the uninstall/install process you have to restart computer. I'm not about to wait another 30 minutes for them to get to me to ask...
