Website hacked - 12/3/2007 16:03:00
My Outfront-hosted website (www.broadwaycafesociety.com) was hacked this morning. The offender put up a rather nasty message and graphic in place of the home page. I deleted the file from the server and got my original home page back.

I know it happened today because I did a bunch of updates and uploaded them on Saturday evening. I did go to site several times on Sunday evening and everything was normal. So I'm thinking it must have happened sometime between midnight - 8am today.

Sent Thomas an e-mail about this, but thought I would report it here as well. Let me know what else I need to do on my end.

Thanks,
Ligia

Couldn't see anything obvious but does your site use ASP or PHP?

Make sure you have secured all files and folders as tight as you can without affecting the operation of the site.

Afraid my technical knowledge is slim.

Not sure how to go about securing files and folders on the server or checking for ASP or PHP.

Like I said I sent a support ticket so I get I'll have to hold tight until I hear back from one of the tech support folks.

Thanks for the help

Your host should help you out with this. The first step is to remove the content in question (which you already did), and the next step is to find out how it happened (with help from your host), then lastly a fix/patch to make sure it doesn't happen again.

You may want to e-mail the hosting support directly, as opposed to Tom.
