Front Page Search Visability - 12/4/2007 10:27:42
I am new to this and wondering if you guys could help me with a question. I do not know if i named this topic right. but here goes nothing. I work for a Small mail order company that uses Front page for website layout. I was wondering how you (Company) can come out on top of the search engines like google. Do you use the keywords feature in front page or is there any other trick that would help out Greatly? Thanks for you help. If you have any questions feel free i am pretty new to this all. Thanks

This is a big subject. In a nutshell:

-decide what terms people would most likely be searching for, and use those terms legitimately in your pages.
-have a good site full of quality content.
-make sure your code validates
-wait
-hope.

There are numerous other special techniques, googling will bring you up with a few. The term is "search engine optimizing" or "search engine optimization."
My advice is to google the term, learn as much as you can in an afternoon or a weekend, then come back to a forum (such as the "search engine optimization form right here on outfront :)) and ask about any specific techniques you might have discovered.

Note that some techniques can get you banned from google or other search engines, so make sure to ask about a technique prior to putting it into practice.

There are also companies out there you can hire for this service, though many of them are shady and best not to be mixed up with. Knowing a little bit about the "best practices" will help you avoid the ripoff companies, should you elect to go that route.
