On spacing cells - 12/9/2007 15:55:56

Hi everyone, well I am flooding the gate at 98 trying to spiff my site as to get a new server before January, as I have had much trouble with whom it is now I have. Ok in doing this I am wanting to at least get this site somewhat presentable. I realize I now need to re-name most of my files in pages and update, that is key. Ok, my question, I have re-named files on home page, http://www.jedidiahsarts.com. had to make some changes to URL's because frontpage would not comply. I have noticed in IE that the cells are where their suppose to be not so in Opera and Firefox. Is there a trick to this? I have the % at 100 on tables, and only have used what is necessary to change pixels in cells when need be. I dont understand why there is so much spacing. I cant imagine this really having anything to do with the name of the page at all, so is there something I am doing wrong again, yes there is. he-he what???

Well firstly you have tables within tables and tables stacked on top of tables. Ideally you should have one table and then use cells within those to lay out the page.

The cells are all fixed width so where your links are you will have large gaps:

<td width="317">
		<p align="center"><a href="ignorance_isn.htm">
		<img border="0" src="abortion.gif" width="255" height="30"></a></td>
		<td width="317">
		<p align="center"><a href="have_you_made_the_wonderful_disc.htm">
		<img border="0" src="Jesus.gif" width="255" height="30"></a></td>

		<td width="317">
		<p align="center"><a href="have_you_made_the_wonderful_disc.htm">
		<img border="0" src="redbutton.gif" width="256" height="30"></a></td>

Hey Jaybee, I have changed most of my pages, so they at least are semi presentable to view, and the tables are a necessity, Frontpage does not give you a secure page for building from scratch unless you use CSS, < which again to my misfortune I know nothing about. Its either, split a cell, or make new ones if you want each and every item to stay in its place, no kidding here, I have learned the hard way to do it differently. So for the most part I am happy with the outcome, for now. The trick seem to be in making the beginning cell a double, and 750 per side, in this you can add cells and center anything you want in the middle of the cells after that. Well like I said I am happy for the time being, it seems to check out in all 3 browsers and quite a few different reslolutions. Ya good luck to me.

Sherri, hey thanks for helping, ( ALot )

Sherri..
