Rollover Text on Graphic - 12/11/2007 20:03:33
Hi ... I have a challange!

A client wants me to put up a graphic map with points of interest that have dots over points of interest. When the viewer rolls the mouse over the dot, the name of the point of interest needs to be displayed.

Seems reasonable, but HOW? I know I can use ALT text for the graphic, but can I make a hot-spot on a graphic and have a short string display with mouse-over?

Thanks...Dan

I assume that you are using FP.

Go to the help section and input 'hot spot' you will get a step by step instruction on how to do that.

Instead of using "alt" for your words you might use "title"

Hi Don...

Well, I read about creating a HOT SPOT but I don't want to link to another page, I just want to have "pop-up" text appear that says "Arbys" or "White Castle." The dots I'm highlighting are spots on a map that doesn't have enough room to put the entire name.

Is this still possible with Hot Spots?

Thanks...Dan

instead of having an actual link to a page just put a # instead. If you look in the page code it should look like

<a href="#" title="blah blah blah blah">Blob</a>

Some browsers show less text than others in the tooltip though so then you get into the realms of pop-ups

Thanks Jay and Don! It works!

It only works once or twice thought. If I go back again, it doesn't pop-up. Is that just the way it goes or is there anything I can do about it. Not sure its a problem, but just wondered.

I appreciate the help!!

Look at it in a browser. It should pop up each time you hover over the 'hot spot'.
