Password protected how? Do you mean that it asks for a password when you try to open it for editing in FP or when you go to the page on the web?

Sorry it took me so long to get back, but I have a new grandson.
I have two passwords:
1. To have access to the webpage for editing through MS Frontpage. Not concerned about that one
2. To access the Roster when in the website. This is the one I need to change.
Thanks
Ray:)

As jaybee asked, how did you password protect the roster? Is that with Frontpage, with the webhosting control panel, htaccess, spooky login (or another server side language based program)?

That is a good question. I don't know since it was set up for me. Hmmmmm:)
Is there a way to find out by going into the website where I can edit it??

Well without seeing it or something it would really be difficult. But let's say that if you are re-directed to a page (perhaps you see a page name in the browser with a server side file extension (.asp, .aspx, .php, etc), then chances are you are using some type of login script (i.e. Spooky Login)).

If a dialog box pops-up, it could be a number of things.

Grandpa Ray :)

Post your URL and we should be able to tell you a thing or two how to resolve this problem.

www.hatron2.org Once there click on Roster. That is where the password change is needed.

Thanks for helping out Grandpa. For some reason those little ones seem to be a lot faster than me :)

You're hosted on a Linux server by Godaddy.com and has FP Server Extensions installed.

The Roster folder/directory does not have viewing permissions by the Everyone user. Its probably has the same permissions with the _private folder :
www.hatron2.org/_private

Do you really want to reset password? Is this folder exclusively meant for restricted membership only?

Does the roster folder on your local computer have a globe on it - as in this example? If so, chances are FPSE handles the password. Otherwise it might be htaccess which could even be changed via your control panel (I am not certain how the Godaddy works).

But I don't think the _private folder has anything to do with this issue

By the way, I did talk to Go Daddy and they said they had nothing to do with the password.

Look in that roster directory. Your Roster hyperlink is calling for a page named Default.htm in the roster directory. Maybe you are requesting the wrong page for that Roster hyperlink.

Do you have a .htaccess file in your Roster folder?

No .htaccess file that I can find. I have several clip art folders, one titled Private, and four (5) files as follows:

AC.htm this sends one to the page containing those last names beginning with the letters A-C
DK.htm -same
LS.htm -same
TZ.htm -same
Default.htm this is the opening menu that allows one to choose which portion of the Roster one whats to view.

Looks like you have Roster as a FP subweb with unique permissions and anonymous access turned off.

Hope this link is useful to you:

Then chances are it is protected with FPSE. You should be able to sign onto the server (File - Open Web - http://www.example.com) and then once signed in go to Tools - Server and you will be able to see you subweb (subsite) there.
