cant publish site - 12/23/2007 3:29:36
I'm new to this forum. I'm trying to publish with frontpage 2003,upgraded from 2002. The problem is this - I click on publish web. The publish destination window opens and I put in my site address and enter it. This opens the connect to... window and I enter my username and password. Immediately after entering this the window opens again with the password section blank, requiring me to enter my password again. I cant get past this point. I have tried publishing from another computer and the same happens. I have tried adding pages to my old domain name held with another host and the same happens though previously with this site there has been no problem. This leads me to think my computers are the problem. I've tried publishing from expression web - same problem. Frontpage extensions are active and passwords are correct. Both computers have had clean install of XP SP2 recently. Updates are up to date. I've googled this problem. It seems common but no clear answers. Thanks, Andrew.

have entered the address correctly. I think the problem may be to do with Internet Explorer security and network settings or authentication but I don't know where to start.

I had the same problem and it was my service provider. They had to upgrade their server. Call them and see if the problem is on their end.

Have exhausted all possibilities at my end and my service provider are looking for the problem on their system.

Look at Internet Options in IE >> CONNECTIONS>>Settings and see if you have a proxy set up there. Having a proxy has caused me some problems connecting to a server when using the publish feature of FP.

Thanks everyone. I have now successfully published my website, www.waterdesign.co.uk . The problem was on the hosts website and they fixed it quickly. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Andrew.
