Hi - a bit of advice please.

Since 13th November i have had a problem getting stats. My host uses Cpanel. the build is 11.15.0-RELEASE 17853 if that is relevant. I have got locked into a cycle of the stats not updating , telling my host who "fixes " the problem. The fix means bringing the stats uptodate, but they then stay locked. There is no daily update until I alert the host again. I have been round this loop about 4 times now and am getting mildly irritated [:@]. The host says it's not his fault and he is the middle man. he says

"Unfortunately, it is a software issue (Cpanel) so technical support are having to rely on Cpanel support for an update."

The pre-installed stats package is Webalizer V2.01.

I'm tired of going round in circles and I'm otherwise quite happy with my host (they upgraded their servers 3 months ago and everyhting has been flying since then ( apart from the Webalizer).

What would you do please?

Make sure the stats folder isn't read only.

Thanks for the reply.

I'm in unknown territory here. I found the Webalizer folder in the tmp directory. In the permissions it is read and execute for all and write for user (not groups or world) does that sound OK?

Ah, OK, just went to my host to see what settings they had on my Webaliser and it's gone. I only have AWStats running now. Maybe theres a problem with webaliser as your host says.

They should let you install AWStats which is much better than the other one anyway. You may even already have it there as cpanel seems to include it.

Yes, I agree about Awstats. They disabled it on their accounts because it was too resource hungry on the server.

I only pay £20 pa for hosting so have come to expect low end offerings!
