sclick -> Possible to change default publish browser? (12/23/2007 18:14:32)

Hi ... am new to OutFront, hapless and need help.

Is it possible to change the default publisher (IE), in FrontPage?

My IE7 abruptly stopped working. Each time I try to use IE7, a HTTP 404 Error occurs. IE7 doesn't seem to connect to the web. FireFox, an old Mozilla and NetScape all work fine.

IE7 isn't in Off Line Mode.

I noticed the IE7 problem when trying to publish from FrontPage, and the program couldn't connect.

Only time IE7 works is when I test a url in the browser, which doesn't require a web connection.

I un- and re-installed IE7, did a clean boot, talked with Microsoft and my host. Nada in all instances.

Any ideas about what's what?

Any way to switch FrontPage from IE to FireFox or another browser?

Need help, asap, as site is languishing for lack of new content.

Thanks, in advance.

Hello and welcome to Outfront.

Can I suggest you download Hijack This

then go here and get the security guys to have a look to see if there's anything odd going on.

Hi JayBee ... thanks for advice re: "Hijack This" and SWI. Did as you wrote. Fingers, toes and eyes now crossed. BTW: no, I didn't expect MS would allow a change in the FP publishing browser, but gotta ask to know for sure. Thanks, again. Seasonal Tidings.

Hi ... thanks for the input, the solution was disabling proxy settings in IE7. Somehow, proxy was enabled and there was an address in the box. In IE7: tools>connections>lan>proxy -- disable. There's is a gawd. Seasonal Tidings.
