womble -> RE: How to spread a new website? (12/24/2007 7:09:55)

To be honest it looks like a mashup of a travel site and a social networking site. I couldn't quite work out what the point of profiles of "Great guides" was. I'm guessing that maybe these are guides who are available for hire? The site doesn't make that clear though, and it's more usual for travel sites to focus on the attractions and places rather than tour guides, at least on the home page. It's obvious that English isn't your first language, and while the language used on the site is pretty good, there are a number of grammatical errors and strange phrasiology that a native English speaker wouldn't use that don't inspire professionalism in the site, or the service. On the trip planning page the total price comes to 32,919 - but it doesn't say what currency this is in or give any conversion rates - if it's GBP £ or US$ that's a hell of an expensive holiday! The formatting of the site also seems to be a bit all over the place (at least in Firefox) with some parts of the site central on the screen, and others left justified while the page banner is central. Having an almost empty forum on a site where the only posts and replies are made by the site owners and administrators also does not create a good impression that the site is a busy site and is actually used by visitors. It's things like all these things which make the difference in how the professionalism of a site is viewed, and to get taken seriously by an international audience a site needs to create a professional atmosphere and have attention paid to all of these things.
