To be honest it looks like a mashup of a travel site and a social networking site. I couldn't quite work out what the point of profiles of "Great guides" was. I'm guessing that maybe these are guides who are available for hire? The site doesn't make that clear though, and it's more usual for travel sites to focus on the attractions and places rather than tour guides, at least on the home page.

It's obvious that English isn't your first language, and while the language used on the site is pretty good, there are a number of grammatical errors and strange phrasiology that a native English speaker wouldn't use that don't inspire professionalism in the site, or the service. On the trip planning page the total price comes to 32,919 - but it doesn't say what currency this is in or give any conversion rates - if it's GBP £ or US$ that's a hell of an expensive holiday!

The formatting of the site also seems to be a bit all over the place (at least in Firefox) with some parts of the site central on the screen, and others left justified while the page banner is central. Having an almost empty forum on a site where the only posts and replies are made by the site owners and administrators also does not create a good impression that the site is a busy site and is actually used by visitors.

It's things like all these things which make the difference in how the professionalism of a site is viewed, and to get taken seriously by an international audience a site needs to create a professional atmosphere and have attention paid to all of these things.

Thank you very much, womble!

I will consider your advice seriously.

This is a challenge for us, as you said English is not our first language, we'll try our best to
ameliorate it.

Thanks again.

There's an example of where someone who is very fluent in English would help. English *is* my native language and I'd have to look that up somewhere to know what that meant.

Like Roger says, that's not the way a natural English speaker, which makes the text on the site look very stilted and artificial, almost as though you're fishing around in a language dictionary looking for the right word, which doesn't inspire confidence in the site. If you're dealing with international clients, they need to feel that there's not going to be any sort of language barrier dealing with you, and the kind of "dictionary English" you've got on the site doesn't inspire confidence.

Upon visiting the site I felt a little out of my depth due to its organization; i.e., your site needs a clear statement about its purpose. Something that, in at most one paragraph gets across the idea of why it was created.

E.g.: This site was created to help people around the world organize their travels to China. We offer xxxxx, yyyyy and zzzzz.
