Display MPEG4 Files - 12/29/2007 15:50:50
Hi! Using FrontPage 2003 I've been able to link and play WMV files without any problem but I'm unable to do the same with MPEG4 formated video files. Is there an easy way to do this with Expressions or FrontPage? Thanks...Dan

Good site Corry. Here's the link for the MPEG4 video. http://www.mediacollege.com/video/format/mpeg4/streaming/ You will need Quicktime to view this. Unfortunately my version of Quicktime was unable to play the sample shown on that web site.

I would suggest not to use MPEG4 files to integrate in the web page. There are to many formats out there where you need a specific viewer to see what you have. IMHO the best way is converting to SWF and use "swfobject" to embed the file.

If it is just a couple of file - let me know. I usually try to convert all my media as well to Flash and would be happy to convert a few files. If it is a lot, check out Flash Video MX. I have the 3.5 version but I think it supports that. They have a newer version which probably warrants an update soon. I will say also their customer service is great. When I went through and reinstalled one system - I could not find the registration information. I emailed them and they replied in less than an hour. (I was hoping for a reply in a day.)

I am using FFMPEG. Flash movies are in general smaller as well.

From memory, Flash Video MX offers a batch feature. Here is a general idea of what it can do the 405 movie. (I think I coded that for IE abour a year ago or so.) There are ways that you can embed the MPEG into SWF as well but that might not convert the MPEG over. (Flashkit for that one :) )

I have Creative Suite 3 web standard and it comes with a very nice flash video encoder. Knocks the file size down to 1/3rd of its previous size and you don't lose and quality. Rich

Hi Rich.... The orginial question was about converting MPEG4 to WMV. Does Creative Suite 3 do that? Thanks...Dan
