margehooper -> Publishing Problems - Shared Point Services Message (1/5/2008 14:04:53)

Hi,
I have a web site www.thecelebrators.org that is hosted with Go Daddy and has been for years. I use FP 2003 and ususally make the changes live and save them. This has worked fine for years.... Now when I try to make and save changes I get the message that Shared Point Services is not running and I can't do a thing. I have called Go Daddy and they said to re-install the Front Page Extensions, which I did. After they were verified, I again went on the site, made one change, saved it...OK...went to make another change and again got the Shared Point Services message. Go Daddy is now saying they do not support Front page extensions and I should FTP my changes. I know from this Forum that FP and FTP do not mix...

So, has anyone else had this problem with their hosting company? And/or does anyone know of a good hosting company that supports Front Page 2003 extensions. I have about 12 websites and am dreading moving them, but FTP is not the way I want to go....

Thank you !!!

Whoops..I forgot to mention that when I re-installed the Front Page extensions it messed up the website...so please excuse the way it looks.... I can't get in there to make changes....

Not sure why Go Daddy would first tell you to re-install them then to turn around and tell you that they no longer support them. Hmmmmmm

Anyways IMO, I know your not looking forward to moving your sites to another host. But for the few FP sites I have left I have no problems with StartLogic.com

I'm sure you know this is coming as well. With the demise of FP you may want to look into getting your sites arranged to be FTP'd instead of relying on Publishing or Editing Live via FP. Will save you many many frustrations and headaches down the road.

If in fact Go Daddy no longer supports the FP Server Extensions. Then perhaps someone needs to tell them to remove it from the specs from their hosting packages page.

Just went there and according to them they support FP

Thank you for your thoughts...not what I wanted to hear but, good advice and something I better start working on.
