Build your pages with HTML and CSS.

Learn HTML and CSS so you know how to fix things.

Dreamweaver does not do it all automatically.

When you have finished a page, run it through the checkers for
HTML and CSS and fix any errors

Then check the page in
Firefox
Opera
IE7
IE6
IE5.5

in that order, as a minimum.

somewhere/sometime I saw in dmwr mx 2004 a window menu to declare a page for NN an other for ie , well ?

What you probably saw was a way to set up the preview as per NN - I wouldn't worry about that. I wouldn't trust DW to have a cross-browser option available at the click of a button (at least I wouldn't trust it to actually work properly). If this actually worked properly then there'd be a lot more sites around that work cross-browser (and they're aren't!).

Just design to standards as Jaybee says and have all your browsers (IE6 and older plus IE7, Opera, Firefox, NN, Safari PC) open and check your designs as you go along.
