Fansite/Forum review - 1/7/2008 15:57:18
Hey, I created a fansite and a forum for my favourite rapper, Chamillionaire. I have designed most of it now and I'm just looking for comments on it and some suggestions on how to improve it, so If you have any, please do post below and let me know. I have been working months and months on this and i do hope all the work has come off, i have tried to put as much info in as possible too

Chamillionaire Fansite ~ http://www.chamillionairechat.com
Chamillionaire Forum ~ http://www.chamillionaireforum.com

Thanks

Hi

I can't get through to the fansite - it keeps timing out...

The forum looks pretty good though - only criticism I could think of is that it causes a scrollbar on a 800px wide browser.

It looks as if it works OK, but I couldn't stay around to look because those diagonal stripes made me feel sick - others with migraine might feel the same. If you really must use that background I'd suggest toning it down. :)

The smilie really does mean nauseous in this case. :)

Hi again - I managed to get through this time - not sure what happened earlier!

It looks fine to me (not a rap music so I can't judge the content!). There are some errors in the code that aren't too hard to fix so it might be a good idea to do that if you get a chance - in particular a missing closing div tag as you never know when that might mess things up!

I'd suggest adding in a general rule to the body element to give a little more line height as the lines of text and the navigation are a bit cramped - try adding this:

line-height:150%;

to the body rule and see if that helps a bit.

As far as the stripes go - they're big and bold and you will find people who just don't like 'em! Maybe reduce the contrast between the stripes to give a more subtle effect or, have a strip of the diagonal stripes at the top of the page (say about 200px high) that fades down to a solid colour (one of the stripe colours). I've uploaded a similar graphic that I created for a site but didn't use in the end to give you an idea - it's a different size and colour but you'll get my drift.

From a graphic design point of view, the banner could be a little more creative, it looks ok but the large face blends well but the same full color image could be a background photo flowing to the right for balance (a posse photo or something from one of his video's). The logo image on the far left is a little blurry and don't really match up the the work you put into the sight. His a star I guess so there should be a nicer glossy somewhere that you can use thats not blurry. Use something that represents a logo icon of some kind or cut him out in Photoshop and fill the area.

Peace
