Publishing Problem with Links - 1/7/2008 18:57:10
Hey Everyone,

I really appreciate all the great help on past posts!!

I have a new problem. I am trying to publish my site that I have built in Expression Web. When I publish to a directory on my local server (so execs can check it out before we put it on the web) my links do not update. For example, as I have been building my site, I set hyperlinks to pages inside the site. The links look something like this: \\My Documents\Web Site Name\about\about_main.html and should update to the new directory such as: \\Shared Drive\Web Site\about\about_main.html

I am now scared that when I publish to the web next week, the links will not work. Has anyone had this problem in the past when publishing to a local directory? I can work around that issue as long as things will work right when we upload to the web.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, let me know if you need more detail! Thanks in advance.

Chris

Usually this happens when you are working in a folder that Expression Web has not identified as a "website". When you drill down in your file explorer does your folder look like this?

Thank you very much for your help, unfortuantely I don't think that this is the issue. My site does have a globe on it when viewed in Windows Explorer.

Inside of my web site, I have several sub-folders. These folders do not have a globe. (i.e. Web Site\About\ or Web Site\Careers)

When I right click on one of those folders and click on "Convert to Web" it warns me that it may cause some problems, so I didn't try that. Do you think that is what I need to do?
