scampo -> Slow/erratic response to mouse scrolling in EW (1/15/2008 10:51:01)

Hi - I'd be grateful for advice. Has anyone else had this problem: since upgrading to EW, I now find that the scroll wheel on my mouse fails to allow me to scroll smoothly through the web pages I am editing - it's as if there's a delay in the command sent to the PC to scroll and scrolling is erratic.

I have a fast machine (AMD 3.0GHz) with 1gb memory running XP2 with all updates to EW. This never occurred with FP2003 and is very frustrating.

From what some others have suggested - do you have spelling turned on?

There is also a registry hack that helped. I think Steve recommended that you try to use the font to create that registry. It did help some on mine. You might want to try the Windows newsgroups for some ideas as well

Thanks for the tips, Corey - I'll try switching spellcheck off but my, I'd hope Microsoft could do better than that. I used to use spell check on FP2003 without problem.

Do you have any details of the registry hack?

Scan through these newsgroups for some ideas - search for expression web slow. There is a post there by gskywalkers that Anna and Steve gave some ideas (turning off spell check, turning off visual aids, (registry hack) choose a font in the Default Font (i.e. Aerial, Helvetica, etc)) that has helped some.

Excellent - thanks for that and thanks for your time. It's very good of you! I'll try out the various fixes tomorrow when I'm on the PC with EW (this is the laptop with FP2003). As it's a known bug, they'd better get it sorted or it will do their sales no good!
