Including a search function on a simple html page - 1/16/2008 16:27:43
I have a page located here:

http://kleenkuip.com/associates/kk_associates.htm

It uses a basic image hotspots on a map to jump to links associated with american states.

Most users are complaining that the site needs a search function included to help them find what they want quicker.

Example: I want to know if a company called sunbeltUSA exists on this page and from what state? Similar like the ctrl + F function found in an internet browser.

What would be the best way to do this?

Thanks
slappy

wow!...over 100 hits and not 1 response.

Maybe it's just a simple javascript snippet of code. I've been far too busy with other things at the moment but I am still looking for some possible solutions.

Thanks,
slappy

Yes you are correct that it is a simple javascript snippet of code. There are a few out there. Look at the top two results See for yourself

I have tried the code from both pages that you suggested...when I use the search button the page reloads (it does not go to and highlight the search any search term that I use).

The bottom of my browser says...Done, but with error on page.

Can somebody please look at the page with the insterted javascript and possible let me know why it is not working?

I do notice that the page reload changed the url location with a string for whatever was entered into the search box...example: http://kleenkuip.com/associates/kk_associates.htm?string=cleaning

but it still does not jump to the searched text string.

Here is the link again http://kleenkuip.com/associates/kk_associates.htm

Thanks,
slappy
