outlook express 6 deleting sent emails - 1/23/2008 4:33:32
Outlook express 6 has started deleting some of my emails. I first noticed this when sending an email to one of my Yahoo groups I belong to. My email sent to the group didn't show up in my inbox but instead showed up in my deleted folder & also in the sent folder. It appears that the email was emailed to the group because people responded to it. Now Outlook express has started deleting the emails I send to myself also. They are in the sent folder but never show up in the inbox, instead I find them in the deleted folder. I didn't delete it & don't know why it has started doing this.

I checked MS site & found nothing to help. Does anybody know what is going on & how do I fix it?

I was helped here before with OE & I needed to go to my isp website & delete the emails that I'm not using. http://www.frontpagewebmaster.com/m-373806/tm.htm#373968 I've done that & so that isn't the problem this time, plus I don't have tons of emails anymore. I can't imagine what the problem is now.

not sure if this will help but here it goes...

just out of curiosity, do you have more than one email account going to outlook?

check your junk email settings (you can usually do this by highlighting an email -> right click -> junk email -> junk email options) and make sure you dont have your email blocked...you can also add your email address to 'safe senders' list and see if that works

thats all i can come up with at the moment, but im also a little hungover...if you try this and still have trouble, make another post and ill see if i can do better

Hi Matt,
Thanks for the reply. Yes, I have 6 email id's that I switch to. I checked the other id's & the only id that is doing the deleting of my 'sent to me or groups' emails is my main id. 4 of the other id's sent an email test to my inbox like they are supposed to. The 5th one, even though it downloaded the new emails, wouldn't send my test email & still is refusing to send it. It also seems to not be downloading anything else now since I sent the test email. I am getting this error message:
The server does not support a SSL connection. Account: 'pop.sbcglobal.yahoo.com', Server: 'smtp.att.yahoo.com', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '250 8BITMIME', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): Yes, Server Error: 250, Error Number: 0x800CCC7D

Outlook Express doesn't have a spam folder, unless I can't find it, so I went to my yahoo email website to do the spam thing you mentioned. It told me the spam wasn't turned on so I tried to turn it on but it wouldn't let me. Very frustrating. I noticed that the emails that I sent to myself in OE & ended up in my deleted folder, were in my inbox on the yahoo email website. While I was there I deleted all the emails then I went back to OE & tried to send me a test email again. It showed up in my sent folder but not in the inbox or deleted folder, & this time not even in my yahoo website email inbox.
It's been an hour since I sent the first test, I sent a total of 3 tests, and none of them have shone up any place except my sent folder. It seems to be worse now.

ok....i can see this is going to be a fun one

go here and check to make sure your yahoo settings are correct in OE

** from yahoo**
Important: For security purposes, and to prevent unauthorized use, our mail server requires that you check your mail before you send outgoing messages. Unfortunately, some Microsoft email programs such as Outlook do not perform this task. For this reason, some Outlook users will need to use their Internet Service Providers (ISP) outgoing mail server (SMTP) setting. If you do not know the setting to use, please contact your ISP and ask them for the appropriate SMTP setting to send mail.
**

is the 5th account (the one that wont send the test email) also a yahoo email? *note* some email services will not allow you to send an email without content in the title as well as is the body of the email *

my only other recommendation would be to verify that all account information is correct for the problem causing email accounts (i.e. pop3 incoming and smtp)

at the moment, thats all i got

Hi Matt, thanks for all of your help.
I think I might have figured out what is wrong. I have been getting spam from somebody that I personally think is just messing with me because every email that they send has a different username, but the first part of each username is shirley. I always block them. I sent an email to one of my groups & then checked the deleted folder & my email was there. Also there were the shirley spam emails that I didn't delete. So I checked who was listed in my blocked senders & it had a couple of my personal email addresses there, which I did not deleted. I know I didn't block myself so OE is thinking on it's own I guess which is not helpful. Then I sent myself an email & it went right into my inbox. Why would OE decide to do that, it's very annoying?

The 5th email address still won't send anything & it also won't let me log in to that email address on the isp website so I need to call them. I've just been too busy. I think that it is probably just a glitch someplace since the other one is working now, for now.
