man, your questions don't make any sense! :) once you've burnt the dvd then that's all you should need...

im usually pretty good at interpreting questions but i have to agree with dave on this one - ill give it a try anyway an .iso file is simply a disk image file - learm more here depending on the file size, 5-7 minutes sounds a little fast but not unheard of - my question would be - did you burn the iso file to a dvd or did you burn the iso image? there is a difference in my day to day activities i deal with .iso files quite a bit...my method of dealing with them (as ive stated in another post) is loading the iso file on a flash drive along with a virtual rom (such as magic iso) and mounting the iso image directly onto the machine. however, if you did burn the iso to a dvd correctly, you should only need the dvd to load the software (unless a keygen is involved, you would need that as well) ok...im done rambling...good luck ~Matt~

ummm...ok then this is what i got out of that last post - you downloaded Microsoft Visual Studios 2008 in an iso format...you then burned it to dvd....the data on the dvd shows as the same size as the original iso (which is fine) this is where i lost it - does the program not install?? if that is the case....i would ask what program you are using to burn the iso? you need to use a program that will treat the iso as an image file, not just a data file also, an iso image can be treated as an archive file....you can try opening it using winrar to see if there is any content....since im pretty sure i know how you got the file, there is a chance that its not real am i even close to understanding your situation correctly? oh well...hope this helped ~Matt~

Did you just copy the ISO file to the DVD or did you open the ISO file and then burn the DVD? You need to open the ISO first (with your burner program) and then burn the DVD and *not* just copy the ISO file to the DVD. That help any?

roxio 6 is able to burn image files, so thats good...however i dont know of anyone else who has attempted to use vs 2008....sorry but.... here's what you do - create a restore point on your pc right now (im assuming you are using a windows based machine) install the program and YOU tell US how it works out if anything screwy happens, restore your machine back to the restore point, no harm no foul ~Matt~ *dave you are cracking me up*

thats just the way it works an iso image isnt compressed for distribution or anything, it is simply an image file that contains all of the necessary attributes needed to install a program so the image burned onto the disk should be the same size as the original iso ~Matt~

no .zip and .rar files are COMPRESSED archive files .iso files are a collection of files grouped together as a complete image with no compression however .iso files can be opened in a program like winrar in order to view the contents of the 'image'
