Inbound email to a site - 1/25/2008 5:10:26
Gurus,

I have a community site (mostly written in .asp) to which I want to allocate an email address and have the emails available for all site members to view.

Any ideas/pointers on if/how this is accomplished vm appreciated.

TIA
Cheers
Bernie

It depends on your system. You could set up an email alias in your control panel that goes to all of these people (i.e. email@example.com - which then your email server sends out to everyone signed up on that address).

Or you could consider using some type of database to store the email addresses and send them out to everyone one by one (perhaps a newsletter type managment software)

i have done this myself and for now it seems to work, just create you a table in your database and in your asp code allow members to email each other but it actually comes from your site, you can either write the code that emails get sent to the member or that then have to log into your site to view the mail........ i know this post is very open ended but if you want it in more detail just leave it here and ill check back in every now and again
