I can't say that my recent decision to make a MySpace page is the only reason where I really notice how much FP messes up code like it's on Advil and Tequila.

Then add the Firefox vs. IE difference, and I'm about to tear my hair out.

I.e. I've got so many "body" tags I can't even count them, but that's nothing compared to Font messes.

But this MySpace thing has shown me how bad it can get even though it doesn't visibly show the the under-the-hood goulash when used at my own site.

Note also that my former background was in graphic design, so I'm more of a WYSIWYG type. No mathematician who can handle Dreamweaver or other less GUI friendly apps.

Yes, I can go in an tweak code when needed, but it makes me angry that I have to do so because of the application's ineptness.

I have also not yet dealt with Flash layouts or much .css except in a modular way (videos and code snippets, not whole Flash site and such).

But willing to learn if the application is user-friendly and not bug-ridden.

Bottom line:

A) Is Expression less code buggy?

B) Is it overall a real improvement?

C) What is seriously missing from it that FP had (I've read something about this but my brain is so FP frustrated right now, I can't remember).

D) Any other feedback in helping me decide to upgrade, which isn't cheap, but I'm goin' nuts.

And, yes, I've read some reviews, but none of them have helped me decide.

Well, I had somehow thought the upgrade to Expression was a couple of hundred dollars or more. Wrong. I can afford it, so will most likely just take the plunge anyway within the next week or so.

But, hey, if anyone wishes to share their "that was then, this is now" success stories in taking said plunge, feel free to share. I can always learn something from you all.

I even thought of considering Dreamweaver, but then just read the PC Magazine Expression review and I decided to stick with what is more familiar.

I also have no use for some of the goodies DW has. Fine for corporate stuff, etc.

No WYSIWYG editor will produce really good, cross-browser markup by itself. You'll need to know enough about coding to go in and check it yourself - using the W3C validator helps to an extent but still won't ensure cross-browser perfection. For that, again it's a case of studying I'm afraid.

The problem is compounded by Myspace itself producing some god-awful mess of code.

I agree with Tail that MySpace is contributing to the problem as well.
FrontPage and MySpace together will make you go bald

Thanks for the responses -- and validation that MySpace is a hair-reduction quadrant - lol. I'll look into and try the Real Editor thing at some point.

My page at the site isn't that fancy and am not using any slick Flash templates or anything, but it's not too bad. Just alot of "Arrggghhh!??" that goes into making/tweaking it.

My newest thrill was finally learning to make a couple of basic JW media players. Will get into player-list type once I have more of my own videos and music tracks ready to publish.

And at least all images/artwork is original stuff too. No Photobucket, etc.
