Java Applet does not open in Safari Browswer - 2/2/2008 21:44:15
I maintain a Web site created with FrontPage for my computer user group. I am not a webmaster; I just try to keep this site going for our club. Anyway, our members only section uses a Java applet for our members to key in their user name and password to access the members only section of the web site. The applet works fine in IE7, Firefox, and Opera. The applet does not open in Safari (for Windows). Any suggestions on how to fix this? Here’s the link: http://www.svonline.net/~svcclub/membersonly/. I do have Java enabled in the Safari browser. A friend gave me this applet and it has worked well except for this Safari glitch. I appreciate your help. Thanks.

It works fine in Safari on the mac. Have you checked the options to ensure it's set up to show applets? If you have then maybe it's a bug - Safari (PC) is still a beta.

Thanks so much for answering Tailslide, Gosh I really appreciate this Outfront community--always so helpful and smart. I am glad to hear the java applet opens on a MAC. I do have Java enabled on the Safari for Windows browsers and Java scripts and plug-ins so maybe it is a bug on this beta Safari for Windows (it seems like a very quick browser--very nice). I just sent Safari a bug report. Thanks again. If anyone else has any thoughts on this issue I would love to hear them. BeteB
