availability & bookings script - 2/4/2008 11:24:36
Hi I may be doing a small website for people with a holiday cottage to rent. They will want up to date info on availability & bookings dates. Does anyone know of a simple script (preferably one that doesn't rely on a database installation?) that can be used? Or any other ideas for simplest implementation. Thanks

Thanks Tailside - I had just found that and was looking only a moment ago. I like to avoid using databases if possible because I like the idea of being able to move sites to an alternate host quickly if ever I need to. I am investigating calendars that are hosted seperately that can be linked-to - or imported as an inline frame/php include maybe?

That's what I thought when I first saw it - then I read the FAQ: http://www.phpjabbers.com/availability-calendar/faq.php Which says: quote:
In order to run the MySQL based Availability Calendar your web server needs to support PHP v4 or more and MySQL v3 or more. Hmm, or do they mean that they run the DB and I only need PHP?

No you're right - I just didn't remember that at all - thought it was flat-file! There was a hosted one which was quite famous and I had it all set up for a client and then it disappeared and it turns out that the people who ran it were demanding money (it had been free) and were also rather difficult to get hold of to correct issues. I can't remember what it was called though. Sorry!

I've found this one which looks a likely candidate. For £20 per year it's hosted for you and easily customisable. In fact, the original styling looks pretty nice.
