rdouglass -> Boot disk imaging and moving (2/25/2008 14:36:47)

Hi All,

I used to use a product calle DriveImage that I used to image, resize. and move Windows drive partitions - boot drives included. I have since lost my CD and license so I need to buy another copy.

So my Q is "What would you guys recommend and / or are using?"

TIA,
Roger D.

Roger,

I believe Acronis 11 will do this.

Larry, if I was still a drinkin' man, I'd buy you *2* beers. [;)]

They had a free 15 day version of "Migrate Easy" that took my 40-GB-that-I-was-scared-to-touch-and-didn't-want-to-loose-anything drive and moved both OS and Application partitions to a 250 GB SATA with absolute grace and beauty.

The only drive involved was the new HD. A coupla' text field entries, a half dozen clicks, and a 45 minute wait and I was back in business. Partitions expanded to the same proportions, absolutely no configuration nor OS changes, left the original drive intact, and the best part is no problems whatsoever.

Ah, nice to have some breathing room again. I have heard you saying very good things about other Acronis stuff and they seem to deserve that praise. I am about to buy the True Image and take a snapshot just to be on the safe side.

Thanks very much for the great suggestion.

Roger,

Here's a truncated (because of recent OF server problems) thread about the merits/my experience with Acronis.

Glad to be of help [&:]

I used Acronis to setup the partitions on my raid drives. Excellent program!
