If you've ever had to help a client troubleshoot computer issues, you'll know that it is usually much easier in person, than via phone.

You may not be able to afford software such as BomGar, but still want something that looks professional to handle the job.

UltraVNC has a package named PCHelpware that uses nat-to-nat to create a connection between yourself and the client and allow you to control their computer. This makes it so your clients do not have to configure their router in order to allow you to connect to the machine.

The best part about this, you can brand the software to your business. You can see what we have done here: RPS Direct Connect

Here's the flow of how everything works...

1. The support representative (you), must configure your firewall to allow the connection.
2. The client does not need to do any sort of configuration whatsoever.
3. Support rep starts the software.
4. Client runs the exe file that you sent to the client, and then clicks "Connect"
5. Support rep will automatically see the incoming connection, and connect right away.

I've used this in about 20 instances so far, everyone is amazed at how I can "take over their computer" and fix problems.

That looks really good; I've got UltraVNC installed on my network PCs so I'll give it a shot. Another alternative is LogMeIn.com; the free version is certainly good enough, but the paid one is amazing - sound and everything comes down the wire!

I use crossloop.com which is free... used with an im for realtime... very cost effective
