I have a full backup of my previous site version in case I need to reverse these changes.

- You should also ask your host to make a backup of the site. It will take less time to restore a backup on the host level, than it will for you to republish it all.

Bobby,

Good advice, as usual.

In this instance I'm wondering if there's any value of a host backup/recovery because of the history of haphazard "publishing" - the host site must be where all the errors reside. Right? Wrong?

The great thing with host backups/restores are that they can quickly be restored to the point where the site was at before the test (as opposed to having to republish all 3k pages again).

So when I do serious changes to a website, I always issue a full site backup, or download a database backup.

You're right, if the files being backed up are corrupt or broken, then it will restore corrupt/broken files from the backup.

Lessee ... according to vitalcoaching that was about 3 years ago. Methinks he's SOL on the server side.
