aryan -> FR DB connection issues (2/28/2008 10:13:02)

I am running IIS on Windows NT locally. I created several asp forms in early January that are working great -- results written to Access database, results are viewable, etc. A few weeks ago, I ran into a problem with any new asp forms I created. I could create the form, connect to the database and submit test data. Then, after opening the database to view my test data, I could no longer connect to the database to submit data nor could I connect to create a DRW view page. The database verifies but that's it. I have tried deleting the form/database and recreating, renaming files, copying files. Nothing is working and I am really frustrated. HELP please...

BTW, I thought this was a permissions issue but I have given everyone full control and the connection just won't work after I open the database in Access.

1. Do you have a backup of that?
2. Have you tried to compact and repair the DB?
3. How big is the DB?

It sounds like the DB has been damaged to be honest. Also, check and see if there is a .ldb file in that directory with the same name. There could also be some locking going on. If there is an .ldb file, try deleting it.

Hope it helps.

The database is small (240kb) and there is no .ldb file. I should mention that this is happening with all new forms/databases I am creating. Any other suggestions? I am desperate here...

How about making a copy and re-importing the database thru FP?

Did you make *any* changes to IIS as in security, updates, etc?

Do you get *any* errors anywhere?

Unfortunately you're not going to get much help with the NT part; there isn't any MS support for it.

When I try to submit my form I get the following:
Cannot open database

When I try to view my results via asp, I get the following:
Database Results Wizard Error
The Microsoft Jet database engine cannot open the file 'c:\inetpub\wwwroot\fpdb\Showcase.mdb'. It is already opened exclusively by another user, or you need permission to view its data.

The only change that was made (that I know of) was adding me as an administrator. I have checked permissions for the root and gave everyone full control. Any other permissions I need to check?

Yes, the IUSR_machinename account. (Substitute the host name for 'machinename'). That needs write access to the fpdb folder and the db file. That help any?

EDIT: Also, you're not trying to use this as Access users at the same time as hosting thru the web are you?

Set for full control. Sigh.

And you said you tried the "Compact & Repair"?

Be sure to make a backup first if you haven't....
