i m newbie to web-development and I'm just done with my first website and i want it to upload for my local network (LAN) users.. i installed IIS 6.0 on my windows XP-SP2 and configured IIS to my web-directory.
but problem is that when i tried to access my website through a browser (I.E 7) using my static ip (e.g http://10.123.123.1) the webpage shows error 500 internal server error....
please help me resolve this problem...

Have you tried http://localhost/default.asp in your browser? IIS6? Surely you should be using IIS5 with XP...

and i am using IIS 6 i downloaded that yesterday from microsoft update center...

A 500 error many times is because of errors on the page and not necessarily because of a server configuration. Try going to another page but an HTM page this time and not an ASP page.

I've my website based on HTML and PHP pages..... i dont know why is that happening again and again.

IIS 6 manager works with XP, however the best way to add IIS with XP is to install it from the XP cd. To use a more friendly name than IP address, edit hosts file in system32, drivers, etc (edit with notepad according to MS samples in file). Hostname must be set in IIS
