Obeo Virtual Tour - 3/1/2008 22:36:01
Hi all, I know there are plenty of threads on virtual tours - I hope my problem is unique as I could not find the answer in any of the previous posts. My clients already have their virtual tour done by obeo. Obeo will allow you to download the tour to run from a CD, but it comes as an .exe file. They were told that the tour could be placed directly on their website, but I do not know how to set that up for them without having the file in the format of a Flash movie. If anyone is interested I can send the .zip file of the tour so that you can see for yourself what I am dealing with here. Any help is always appreciated. Carrie

Ask Obeo, sounds like there might just be some miscommunication. You cannot play an .exe file, however, you can have it setup so people can download it (not recommended though). They may provide you with something that will play in a website. If they don't, ask them for an example of someone using the .exe file.

Thanks Bobby, I did, they say that they cannot support 'other' websites, and that we can just link to the show on their website. I'm guessing that the .exe file contains the Flash app, and I didn't know of any way to make it run from the webserver, but I'm guessing not. I will see if they can provide me with an example. Thanks again! Carrie

Well, one more case of miscommunication between the sales rep, client, and customer service. While customer service says 'no way', salesperson says it is possible to import the downloaded version (that supposedly will run from a cd) into quicktime. I do not know quicktime well enough to know if that is true. Does anybody here happen to know? Please respond if you do, I will be happy to send the downloadable version of the tour if that will help. Thanks, Carrie

Well the quicktime player should be on your computer. If not, it is a free download. Give it a try.
