Banner File Not Loading To Web - 3/2/2008 12:16:23
I changed my banner file which I've done before without a problem but now I'm not seeing it on the web. The file has the correct name, the correct pixel size, is located in my web in the same location as the old file (which was renamed). I published (a few times), I received a message to over write the old file. The old file is no longer on line but instead there is a blank box where the new file should be. I checked my files in my control panel at Go Daddy and I can see the file. What is wrong? How can I fix this? This is very frustrating because it is my banner image which is on every page of my site. Thanks.

Have you tried recalculating hyperlinks? If that doesn't work then change the file name again and republish.

Is this a FrontPage Banner image file or is image loading controlled by a .js script? A URL would be helpful.

I recalculated hyperlinks & published - didn't help
I renamed the old file, added a new file, recalculated hyperlinks & republished - didn't help

The url is http://www.sunembroideryscreenprinting.com/

It is a FP image controlled by a css style sheet

I'm wondering if changing the file name in the css & publishing this file might work?

I really appreciate your help!

If you're missing the banner shown Here, then your current site code doesn't show a "mainmovie.swf" flash file reference whatsoever.

Try copying the code from above or from a good backup, paste, test, etc.

Good luck :)

Yes, that is the correct banner. I removed the flash over a year ago although I don't remember what I did to accomplish that. Is the flash code necessary to load the banner image? I just want the static banner image without any flash. What code do I need for that and where would it go? Thanks.

If you just want the static image then the flash code is not necessary. Just make it an image and insert it like any other image on the site

I found information about this template that states:

"The shockwave/flash movie has a small script which pulls the mainimage.jpg from the Images folder into the movie (for the Index page). The other pages have a CSS class applied to that particular cell which uses the mainimage.jpg as the cell background image."

I noticed that my current version of my index page does have this code:

<TABLE width="750">
<TR>
<TD class="mainimage">
<font face="Toledo" size="4"> Home</font></TD>
</TR>
<TR>

This looks like the mainimage class on the non-index pages but the banner doesn't appear on any page.

I'm not sure about inserting the banner as an image (how do this - just work in code view? Also, what would happen with the page name text that is layered on top of the banner?)

No. Just >>Insert >>Picture >>From File which assumes you have caputured the static image from the WayBack Machine. Note: the flash image cycles, so catch the screen print at optimal display.

Rather than do this (which eliminates the effect of flash animation) go to a backup which has the correct flash display, rebuild the page to current specs, rename and publish.
