Local letters - 3/4/2008 7:41:15
Hi,

As you may know, we Scandinavians are quite special in common, and we Danes are special in particular. Of cource we have three letters in our alphabet no other country in the world uses.

My problem is, that when I use Spookys automtic e-mail to users, the three special letters are substituted by "common" letters. And I simply don't know, whether the problem is to be solved in Spooky or in Aspmail.

Tanks in advance and regards

Lars

Hello my special friend :)
Is it something that can be changed directly in the email emplates? these are just text files that should be able to accept the different characters. (in the email_templates/ folder )

Hi Spooky

First, great system. We're using it with great succes allready on two sites, but on this new one, we want to use the facility, where new users get a confirmation mail.

I have been through all the e-mail text-files and translated them into Danish. In fact thay are giving me the same problem. For instance, we have a letter "æ" which turns into "x" in the e-mail.

regards,
Lars

The other thing to try would be to modify the locale settings, open the a_config.asp file and look for "Session.LCID "

Change the value there to 1030

Nope, doesn't work either. But I've been reading my documentation for ASPmail and think, I've found the solution.

The default charset in ASPmail is US Ascii. But I can change that by setting the "Mailer.CharSet = 2". I've been trying to find out where to do that - but so far no luck. Could you give me a hint :-)

Regards,
Lars

Hmm interesting.
That would be in the file inc_email.asp and you would locate the case "ASPMAIL" and then add a new line

eg :

oMail.RemoteHost 	= strServer
oMail.CharSet = 2

Spooky login always work after asking the right person...... and you did :)

By the way, I have run into a lot of trouble dealing with the LCID, so I never touching that again, but ÆØÅ works fine

Just to complicate matters a bit: I have been using Spooky login for more years than I can remember right now. I use Danish letters too AND ASPMail - with no special settings and it has worked always - showing the correct letters in the FINAL mail ... and here is the fun part ... but not when previewing with Mailwasher (a spam control program).
