Formatting memo fields - 3/5/2008 13:42:36
I guess this has been asked before but I can't find a decent reply.

Thanks to you Gurus on here the b*ll*cks-to-pca.org site is progressing extremely well :) - I knew nothing about asp 3 months ago.

I have pages where my members can enter into various memo fields which I display typically using <%=replace(FP_FieldVal(fp_rs,"comment"),chr(10),"<br>")%>

Any hints/tips on how I can let them do basic formating (bold, italic, font, the odd smiley etc.) when entering the text and without them needing any knowledge of HTML?

Sure, I could use something like a forum message input form {as per this 'wonderful' forum} but I would prefer any entry to be WYSIWYG, didn't show all the tags and doesn't need a 'Preview'.

I guess the nearest I have seen to this is new message form on the MSN forums.

Cheers
Bernie

Youd really need to use a wysiwyg area like TinyMCE

http://tinymce.moxiecode.com/

It can be done with lots of replacing, but the code would be difficult
