Font size on a site - 3/5/2008 20:04:54
I just started working on a new site http://fisher.globat.com/~hillelacademyofdenver.com/.
I'm concerned that the font size is hard to read. It's currently at Tahoma 11 px. I think it makes the site pretty when it's smaller. Is that an OK size, or is it preferable to go one point bigger?

Well the older guys on this forum usually like a little larger font:)

but because you have sized using pixels then ie6 users can't resize the text size - you need to use percentages or ems ;)

As Dave says - don't use PTs or PXs for fonts on the web. Leave it up to the user whether they make the font bigger or smaller.

I tend to declare a font size of 100% on the body rule in the stylesheet and then a further rule of 76% for the main containing div which sets about "normal" font-size for the whole page. You can then increase or decrease the % on individual elements as required.

You do obviously have to check that when users increase the font size in their browsers it doesn't break the layout - but, from a quick look at your site it looks ok.
