MCD -> Problem in IE7 (3/6/2008 13:23:59)

I have started a draft for a new site. The site displays fine in Firefox but causes a scroll bar to appear in IE7. The problem occurs when I insert the logo. Does anyone have an answer? I've racked my brain all day on this one. The site is at

I just looked at it with IE7 and didn't see an active scroll bar (other than what IE always shows - FF only shows the scroll bar when needed)

That is strange because I am getting a fairly wide scroll bar. I'm looking at it using a 800 x 600 resolution. The site does not have a scroll bar at 1024 x 768. The site is set up on percentages.

Is it the horizontal or vertical bar?

Try using 98-99% width in your main table rather than 100%.

MCD -> RE: Problem in IE7 (3/6/2008 16:02:16)

It's a horizontal scroll bar. Changing the table percentage to 98% did not solve the problem so I changed the percentage back to 100%. The problem goes away if I remove the header image which is less than 100px.

sorry, when I looked at it my resolution was set to high.

There is one catch when you are using percentage throughout your design. If I go full screen in 1600 x 1200 or higher the flames are cut off and you just see the tip of them.

MCD -> RE: Problem in IE7 (3/6/2008 17:20:56)

Like I said, this is a rough draft but thanks for pointing out another problem. I need the 800 x 600 problem solved first and then move to problem two. I may need to start this process over if I can't get these issues ironed out soon.

Tailslide -> RE: Problem in IE7 (3/7/2008 2:38:25)

I'm not good with tables in this situation but the problem seems to be to do with the fact that you've got a banner image which is 498px wide and then in the row underneath it you've got two cells either side with images in that are 174px wide -adding the 3 up together is way over the 800 and that seems to be upsetting IE7.

You nailed the problem Tailside. Funny how I had thrown common sense out the door. Thanks for everyone's help
