Changing IP Addresses - 3/11/2008 12:36:12
I host my IIS 6 server in house. I recently setup a test server on IP 10.2.2.0, and have installed front page extentions and sharepoint server. Both work great. I am ready to go live with my server, and the live address will be 192.168.1.3 (DNS Routed to domain). Still testing internally, and when I change the IP address my front page extentions don't work. I tried changing the IP address on the "Publish Site" settings, and reuploading the entire site, but it's not working. I checked the Front Page Extention configuration for the server and it's displaying the correct IP Address. I changed the server IP Back to 10.2.2.0 and it works fine. What am I missing here? Thanks,

If you manage your own server/IIS, try to make a "new web site" (right click default site in IIS), follow the wizard entering approprate info including IP or try "All assigned", fill inn hostheader (www.yourdomainname.com) if you have more than one site on the same IP and finally the path to the folder for your files. Afterwards you need to install FP ext. Hope that can help you - Oystein

Thank you for your reply. This was a very commonly overlooked detail, however was not the case. I should have followed up to my own post. What was happening, when the site was on ip address 10.x.x.x, it was internal. When I put it on 192.x.x.x it was behind the DMZ. With this being the case, I had to change the address of the SMTP server, as well as open the port on the DMZ. Took me several days to realize this could possibly be the issue.
