I'm sorry if this has been asked before. I could not find it in search. I have a site with the business name at the top and a graphic to the left of it. I also have a set of links down the side. If the size of the browser changes, then the title and the links move around on the page. How can I get them to stay fixed in the same place? This is probably easy, but I can't figure it out. You're using shapes as well as tables to lay the page out.

You're using spaces to move things around.

The centre is one big image. Images don't resize and Google can't read what's in them. They're also a pig to change when you need to. Text is for text. Images for pictures.

And while I'm at it. the logo is appalling. It needs to be sharp.

If this was a hobby site you could probably get away with it but it's not, it's a business site. Suggest you either get a book on using FP to build a web site or go to the top of this page. You'll see a thin blue bar. Click FrontPage. In there are tutorials telling you how to build pages properly.

So . . . you're saying this is not good . . . As for the logo, I do know that it has to be sharpened. As for the shapes vs. tables, I have no idea what that means, but I will learn. As for the spaces, I did sense that it was not really the right thing to do and was part of the problem, which is what I was really trying to figure out. As for the image in the center, I was basically trying to adapt the way that the previous webpage had been set up. That was done by someone who no longer works there, and the owners don't know anything about it. I was picked to fix up the site. Anyway, the basic steps of what to do would be to start over with a blank page and make the business name, the two sets of links and the main text area all tables (?) or text boxes (?) I'll read about it, just trying to get a sense of the overall structure for fixing this.

Errrr, no, not good. [:D] Start again, follow the tutorial from the link I gave you which will explain all about tables and text. STAY AWAY from text boxes (shudder). They will cause you more problems than you're prepared to deal with. They are a hang over from Word, they're meant for putting boxes on paper documents, not web sites. In fact, go to the FP View>Toolbars and turn off the drawing toolbar so you're not tempted to use any of the MS shapes. I just love the way business owners will dump their web site, which is one of their most important marketing tools, on somebody who is not a web designer and then expect to get something professional. Worse, if it all goes pear shaped, the poor sap they chose to dump on gets the blame. Sigh.
