Expression vs Dreamweaver - 3/22/2008 17:24:09
Hi all, I have been using FrontPage for years, but am now ready to move on. I am wondering which would be best Dreamweaver or ExpressionWeb. I love the ease of FrontPage, but not the extension problems. And I would like to use FTP upload instead of Publishing. Can you give me some info? Maybe someone has used both and has a preference? Thanks

Expression Web would probably be easier. They have a free 60-day free trial and now the 2.0 Beta version is out as well. Both are free, you can try it - won't cost you anything but a little of your time.

Definitely start out with the trial. In fact, I would take a couple days to try both. Build a web site in EW, then attempt to do the same in DW. Picking out which one to use, is like picking out what car you want to drive for the next four years. You pretty much need to get behind the wheel of a couple of them in order to figure out which one is best for you.

Hey guys thanks for the info. One more question? I have a few web sites I created with Frontpage. I think I may stick with Expression... Can I download those web sites to Expression Web and then use it as my only web editor? Eliminating the need for Frontpage on my computer. Thanks

If you have the files on your computer, you can still open them up with EW. You can phase out the FPSE that are used throughout the website, and incorporate the tools EW has instead. To answer your question, yes you can.
