Site help please - 3/26/2008 15:20:01

I got my site up and running and submitted a site map to G. The site map i submitted has 71 pages but they only indexed 20. What would make the difference.

Also, when i try to validate it i keep getting error message.

jeffsstorepackage.com

Can someone take a look and point me in the right direction.

thanks,
jeff

Google can take a while to index everything. Up to six months in some cases so just wait a while and see what happens. However, looking at the code your page is nothing but links, it has no content and Google likes content.

As for the errors on validation, you have 78 of them. The code is not valid XHTML which is what your doctype declares. You've used RVSiteBuilder PRO, something I've never come across before but it obviously doesn't produce XHTML.

In order to correct all those errors you'll need to learn some HTML, got into the code and fix it, or lower the doctype. Each error listed explains what the problem is, for example, You have loads of complaints about & you need to replace those with the code for ampersand which is &

Thanks jaybee,
I really appreciate you taking a look and giving advice as to how to fix it. I think first I'll get a hold of the folks at RVsitebuilder to see if they can offer any insight. As for the index, i assumed G had indexed my sight from the site map i submitted. What they have indexed must be organic and they will index from the sitemap sometime.

Jaybee,
One more thing:
I don't understand about the content. When I look at it I see descriptions of every category, and several other areas where i thought i was providing content. I'm not challenging you on this, I'm just trying to grasp how much more i need.

Thanks for your time,
jeff

By content I mean words. So for example a block of text saying what you do. Take a look at some of the high ranking sites that appear when you do your keyword searches and see what sort of things they have on their landing pages.
