complex sql with database results region - 3/27/2008 16:42:24
We recently completed a project to do a relatively straightforward offload of a single table from the Informix database. All well and working OK. Now, the boss has a new task where he wants multiple tables downloaded and linked for a slightly more complicated results set. What we are finding is that the FP Database Results Wizard seems to be just fine for finding the dat asources and for the basic queries, but is a little constrained when we want to add multiple tables and work on what joins to what. Also we cannot find the greater than or equal to operator. Try to edit the bot directly to get out of doing an awkward OR statement and it wont take it. There is a proviso for custom SQL but that is a sort of a hit or miss operation and runs the very real risk of undoing all the previous formatting and column selection.

So the question is, should we even be using the DRW for the more complex queries. Can we just script them directly in. We notice that the bot script (for the data field items) is just formatting and we prefer to call the variable directly to work on.

Can anyone point us to some non DRW queries and we will see if we can make them work and incorporate them.

Thank you all very much.

The DRW should work for you, but it is best to put it on the "diet" so that you can edit the SQL directly in the code and not have any issues with FP trying to do what it thinks is best - link in my sig

That sounds exactly like what I need to do, but unclear what you mean and how to put it on the diet??? Did not find any links.

Another option is to use the macro :
