Validate Markup - 3/30/2008 16:42:13
Hi all you 'Validators',

I'm trying to get a page to validate and it does fine when I force an encoding of iso-8859-1 in the validator but I cannot for the life of me get the header to send the proper content encoding code.

Here is the error:
No Character Encoding Found!

Here is the page:
http://www.atrainerontheroad.com/default.asp

and since I'm using XHTML, I have been trying this in several different permutations:
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html;charset=utf-8" />

and that chokes.

Can anyone suggest how exactly I get this page to force the iso-8859-1 so I can validate?

Thanks,
Roger D.

EDIT: Oh yes, I'm using the validator.w3.org

<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" />

Make sure you're uploading the code in the correct format as well.

Well I'll be....I could have sworn that I tried that exactly. Passes fine now, thanks much.

FTP packages allow you to upload in all sorts of different formats. Mine defaults to Windows format. I have to remember to change it to UTF-8 or whatever.
