Question About A Hosting Provider - 3/31/2008 3:52:10
Does anyone have experience with "hostgator", for hosting a website? I'm curious. I'm shopping for a new host and someone else had mentioned them.

What are you wanting in a hosting company? Someone cheap? A company that pretty much has 100% uptime? A company that supports FPSE? A company that has MSSQL or mysql? A company that supports what server side languages?

I was with Hostway for probably seven or eight years at the end of the 20th century. Great support - even offered some web developing support as well. Their company has grown and usually with growth - some things change. TechEvolution is where I have a couple of servers - been happy with them and probably been with them for about three years now I guess.

My website isn't fancy....I'm looking for low price, high reliability, and good support. I've been with my host now for about 5 years but I'm not happy with their email servers - lots of spam and sometimes my emails get blocked by other ISP's due to spam originating from their servers, and server performance. I'm getting a lot of "outlook could not connect to the outgoing server", timeouts, slow sending email....and when I wrote their support all they can tell me is to use webmail - its faster and more convenient!

Well you will usually always see that *NIX is cheaper than Windows. I was with Hostway for years, extremely happy with them. But I like having my own server so I am with TechEvolution.

You might check out this Hosting Company as well.

I guess if you live in Denmark it would be OK. I sure don't want to make long distance calls to Denmark if I have a server problem.

These people are good
1 and 1

I've used them for a few years now with no problems and their support is excellent.

They are one of the few hosts who let you host multiple domain names on one account.
You can choose your package from a basic £1.99 per month up to enterprise servers for £250 per month.

I believe they are in the USA as well as Europe. They claim to be "The World's Number 1 Web Host"

HostGator have a pretty bad reputation according to the searches I did a while back. Pick a host, type their name into Google and see what the negative feedback is like before signing up.
