Hi group.
After quite a lot of frustration with a nifty but buggy template, I've decided to build a FP site "from scratch."
So far, so good.
Except for some navigation difficulties (I admit, I loathe maps and am probably looking at the answer
when in "Navigation" view, and just not "seeing" it).
I have a home page and 4 other pages that it politely displays links to.
They in turn show a link to Home, but not to one another.
Navigation view looks like this:
Home
About Services Resources News

Any words of wisdom on how to link the pages to one another, as well?

I think if you choose "home" and "all child pages under home" it will work.

They shouldn't need to link to each other. If the pages are structured under HOME then the menu should show all of them. The only time you'd have a problem is if the sub pages aren't linked to Home.

Not sure I understand what you are saying.
Right now, my home page shows links, in the L margin, and in the bottom footer, to each of the other pages in the site. So you can get anywhere in the site from the home page.
You can also get "home" from any of the other pages, as that link shows up in the L margin and in the footer.
however, you cannot get from Services to News or to Resources, etc.....and I don't know how to fix that.

The links on the home page were auto generated when I added those pages to the navigation menu.
It seems to me what is lacking is a link to each of the other pages....but I'm at a loss as to how to do that.

do you have the navigation "buttons" on all of the pages? or, just on the home page.

just re-read your post.
go to the home page, double click on the navigation that you are seeing on that page. you should then have the option to build your navigation "based on navigation structure". When you go through the different pages, next, next,...etc. you'll then click "finish" and at THAT point you can choose/checkmark in the link bar properties "home page" and "child pages under home". For that to work, though, you need, in navigation view, to have your home page at the top and your other pages dragged and dropped underneath the home page.

YEA!
I opened the Home page, R clicked the margin with all the navigation links, clicked "link bar properties," and then it opened the dialog box where I could select "child pages under home."
After selecting that, PRESTO, the links were all generated in the L column, on each page.
WHEE!

Home page is still the only page that links to all other pages in the footer:
[home] [services] [resources] etc.....Not sure if that's something I should mess with, or not....?

THANKS a bunch! I really did not want to just start clicking options in the navigation box, for fear I'd REALLY mess things up.

i always hope MY questions are "stupid" questions because then they have easy answers!!!!!!!!!

(of course everything is easy once you know how to do it, so there are absolutely no stupid questions...plenty of stupid answers though, eh??? lol)

Well, then, here's another question for the "almost stupid" category.
When I preview in browser, I see that IE lists "About" or "home," but not
"my website name-Home" "my website name-About" , etc, which I'd like it to do.

Can you help me with that little detail?!

yup..
in navigation view, each of the pages is represented as a rectangle with text inside. change that text and voila.....that's what appears in the navigation.

Hmmmm.....That makes the L margin links all "messy," too, adding WEBSITE NAME to each displayed link...
.
I THOUGHT there was another way to change what is displayed in the menu bar of the browser.....maybe i dreamed that.....?
Still thinking....I know I'm not explaining this too well.....

maybe you're talking about changing the title of the page?
then you need to go into the html view and change the wording between < title > < title >.

I hereby submit that you need to find someone to officially change your title from "underling" to
"helpful genius."

I can't think of any more "bugs" to work out.
Well, of course, I'd love to upload my Logo for use on the site, but since I have the title scrolling as a banner,
pretty sure THAT is not possible....
