shopping cart custom payment amount - 4/7/2008 11:44:32
Hello Everybody, I am in kind of a pickle. Working on a website that will accept payments for classes that will be held. However, the company will be requiring that a user puts down a certain amount deposit. No problem there, so if the required amount is $500 dollars most shopping carts or e commerce software will allow you to make such a button or link for that and then process. However, after the deposit is transferred the visitor can come back anytime and pay more to their existing say $1500 bill. Is there any software out there that will allow for me to setup a payment plan that will allow a visitor to type in a custom amount and they process it? I don't need something that will track what their balance will be but something that will allow the user to type in a custom amount of what they want to pay Thank You so much

Some gateways (along with some software - like Bookkeeper™ 2007 (I think)) will allow you to set up an invoice link. Paypal will offer a way as well. If though you just want the user to come on and tell the site he wants to pay $1,000, this could be set up pretty easy as well using an electronic payment gateway.

Hi Corey, thank you so much for the fast reply. So your saying PayPal will allow or let me setup such as what I'm after. Someone had told me you can only make buttons that are attached to a certain price that you attach to it.

I don't rely fully on PayPal but go to PayPal's website and search for invoice. It seems a number of options will come up
