Navigation problems with DWT - 4/11/2008 19:29:10
So happy to find this forum!! I've used FrontPage for many years (now on ver 2003). I recently got the bright idea to reformat my site using DWTs. I am getting it done, but when I verify hyperlinks, all the links in my nav buttons (.css ul buttons, not interactive link bars) show up as broken links; they are pointing to my local directory. I linked them using the Hyperlink function and selecting the pages from Folders view. I tried changing the link (just went through the same process again to set hyperlinks) for each button and re-verifying the links, but they still show up broken. The only thing I can think of is that they will change when I publish the new pages? BUT, I don't want to publish until I am sure there won't be a problem with all my nav buttons (on all my pages, since they are linked to the DWT, where the problem resides.) My "old" pages are still on the server and working, so I don't want to republish over them with broken navigation. Any words of wisdom before I pull the rest of my hair out?

i'm not so au fait with FP, but how about making a test page (called test.html) based on the template, that you can publish without upsetting anything else and then see if the links in the test page work, and if they do it would be reasonable to suppose that the others would.

Sally, Publish to a file on your own hard drive... not to your actual host server. Then, you don't risk messing up your web site. It's one of the selections on "Set Remote Site Properties" (or something like that; I'm not looking at the actual dialog box).
