SharePoint Designer - 4/15/2008 15:10:33
Just putting out some feelers, anyone out there been using SharePoint Designer at all?

Compay just moved to it and it is a bit different from Frontpage, just looking to see if anyone has an their options and to see what people think of it as a WYSIWYG software compared to a FP or DW.

Let me know.

Ive been stuck in sharepoint designer and I hate it but the boss loves it. sharepoint sites bear little resemblance to normal html sites - everything i know about web esign is out the window.

DPF, are you creating actual web pages or are you using it on a SharePoint Server area? There is a huge difference.

I use it also. I'm not in love with it. It is Expression Web with features of Sharepoint Server tied into it.

Sharepoint: Everyone in an organization has to really buy into the philosophy of managing documents through it. It has a big learning curve for end-user. My boss looked at the interface that HQ sent to me and told me to stay away from it for our Intranet site. Unless there is an overwhelming compelling reason to buy into it, I would not. If you have a clear vision of what your company needs create your own template and put all the content in a database/xml or something and you will be far better of mentally and your company can do something else with what they would have to pay for the software.
