Input on how to make my web page better - 4/16/2008 0:02:03
I have just finished my Web site for my new book and company. I am trying for an organized and high quality look. Any input or tricks would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the help.

The main issue I have is that I find the text size and font really really hard to read.

I'd increase the base font size (try not to use px to size the font otherwise people using IE won't be able to increase the size in their browser) and preferably change it to a serif font such as Verdana, Arial, Tahoma or Trebuchet MS.

looks good! military yet not over the top. you're missing a few apostrophes:

The children's book...

Soldiers' activity

their family member's role outside...

text is too small for me too!

there are a few more grammatical mistakes in the other pages (well, About Us, at least) - not so impressive for a site promoting a book!

also for images like i_love_my_soldier_with_slogin.jpg that are only resized in the html you need to resize it in a graphics editor.

oh and you need to optimise the book cover picture on the homepage -it's huge! 559.65 kB

otherwise it's looking good :)

I agree about the small font, I tend to ignore anything that makes me squint.

If I were you I would lose the flash intro or at least remove the music. It is totally unnecessary and will annoy more people than it will impress.

The main page looks good but you need to check your pages with the validator and make a few corrections. There are 6 errors on the home page.

Also I notice that if you view at 800 x 600 you get a sideways scroll, if you care about the (roughly) 10% of people who still use 800 x 600 and also the ones on a higher resolution who use the sidebar that needs to be sorted.

Oh wow, yes, increase the font size. That's painful.

Agree with above, get rid of the Flash intro page, it's pointless. People will just get annoyed having to click to get to the site. Google will also give you better ranking if it lands on a page with something in it.

You seem to be using FP formatting to change things on the page
<font face="Georgia" size="1"><font face="Georgia" size="1">

but the template has CSS files and that's where you should be altering colours and sizes.
