Joe Hussar -> viewing images in IE preview (4/16/2008 8:46:02)

Hi...........

I have a page for my web site containing images that looks great in Front Page Preview, Firefox (& Netscape) ............. it looks great in IE when posted live on the internet.

But when I view the page, from Front Page on my computer, with Internet Explorer (on my computer) the images don't show up!

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I might even look at to decipher this? I use shared borders and the images on my shared border, or on the page itself react the same way. You can see them on the web in

Netscape
IE
Firefox

You can see them within Front Page on my personal computer in

preview mode
File-Browser-Preview for Netscape and Firefox
but NOT in File-Browser-Preview in IE

????????????

Any thoughts are really appreciated!

That's odd. If it doesn't work in IE browser preview then it shouldn't work in FP preview either as that uses IE. The only thing I can suggest is reinstall IE.

I don't think it's possible to specify a different browser for FP to use but check just in case it's picked up one of the others.

Thanks .......... I was going to do that.

I just found a weird "work around" for this. I saved the file as a different name "Save As" (while in Front Page) then renamed the file to it's original name and it worked.

I had 2 different instances of pages that looked this way (1) no images in IE from Front Page but (2) looks OK when live on the internet. (3) no issue with other browsers

The above "solution" worked in both cases. Of course I have no clue why that should be different. These pages happened to be pages that someone sent me as an email attachment - so maybe something was done in the transition.................. who knows??

Thanks for replying.

P.S. I've had this happen before too - so the problem is "reproducible" in a technical sense although I don't know the recipe. :-) :-)

As jaybee pointed out, FrontPage uses IE, so try clearing your IE cache then viewing again after a restart.
