google finding old domain name ??? - 4/27/2008 5:17:05
we moved server a couple of months ago and now when i search for the term '2.4mr' (a class of boat) i get different results in google and yahoo
in google i get http://www.chargercomposites.com/sailing/2_4mR.html (our company website) but the link doesn't work with the 'www' part (click on the link and see)

whereas in yahoo it's correct:
http://chargercomposites.com/sailing/2_4mR.html

in fact typing in www.chargercomposites.com/ returns a blank page

is this something i can query with the hosting that it won't resolve www.chargercomposites.com??

Check the directory structure on your host account. You should have a couple of directories, one called public or html or something, and another called www which is effectively a subdomain of http://chargercomposites.com

Might be worth contacting your host to see what they have to say especially if they are also hosting the Domain. It may be they have your account set up wrong or it could be the Domain Pointers are missing a bit. In fact, that's the most likely scenario.

I ran a check on your DNS and it reports everything OK so yes, talk to your host about the www. not resolving.

The report did come back with one interesting thing though. Is this a cheapy host? Some guy in his bedroom?

they've fixed it now. something to do with the name servers (more likely someone was playing a game on the commodore 64 and everything went wonky!) maybe it's some sort of Finnish sense of humour?! usually they have to import someone like me for that :)
